Dialogue between topography, view and architecture
Villa C, it’s the result of an intimate dialog between the constraints from the site and the demands of a private client. Along with an accentuated typography, the connection to the route, are the most expressive characteristics of the site. These constraints are determinant to the choices of the architecture in terms of aesthetical and practical solutions. The volume, with a shape of an “L” reflects the meeting between the significant typography, the living spaces and architectural aspects. A plinth was added in order to minimize the 10m difference from the highest to the lowest point of the terrain, and at the same time, it creates a flat zone for the entrance, protected also from the route. On the top of this element, another box was placed crosswise, emphasising the “L” shape from the plinth beneath.
The interior is defined by distinct levels. The ground floor, which corresponds to the stone plinth, shelters all the living spaces. The shape of the “L” allows the creation of a huge terrace protected from the route, but wide open towards the Lake Léman. Taking advantage of this intimate relation with the landscape, wide openings were place along the entire south facade. The pool, which has a direct connection to the kitchen and eating areas, helps to create unique interior spaces full of reflexes, shadows and strong in identity, On the first floor, the white box placed crosswise laid-out all night spaces, accessible by a lengthwise promenade attached to the north facade. From this point, the entrance to each bedroom, is once again, the exciting discover of a dramatic landscape. From its orientation, the white box, assumes a dominant position in relation with the surroundings, at the same time that offers a comfortable sensation of protection and privacy.
